Sydney call to action

Sydney call out for those wanting to protest Obama's wars

Stop the War Coalition is calling a special meeting on Monday February 8, 6.30pm, at the University of Technology, Sydney, to discuss organising to make the protest against US President Barack Obama's wars as broad and as big as possible.

Stop the War Coalition had started to organise a protest on the anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, to highlight the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, for March 27.

But given we do not know exactly when Obama will arrive in Australia, and the fact we do not want to be holding a rally after he has left, the Monday meeting will discuss the best way of juggling these logistics, and still hold a broad and powerful protest.

We would like to invite all those interested in protesting Obama's wars to come along.

Naturally, groups will want to put out their own material: the purpose of this meeting will be to arrive at a common idea of where and when to protest, and some demands that unite us.

The meeting will be held at the University of Technology, main building, downstairs near the Students Association office.

Please circulate this email to those who would be interested in coming along.

In solidarity,
Pip Hinman and Marlene Obeid
